The Feminine landscape

In Michele Sons’ series “The Feminine Landscape,” the photographer takes self-portraits wearing evening dresses in the wilderness.

"This series explores my personal experience of place within the context of my love for the landscape. Although the more traditional landscape image (i.e. people-free) is my primary goal when I am out in these places, I have found that shooting myself within the environment I seek to interpret and communicate can deepen my experience of being there. Putting myself IN the image, as I am IN the environment I shoot, allows me to add scale, storytelling, and the element of the unexpected to my images. In essence, shooting this series adds another dimension to both my images of place and my experience of place, and also celebrates my connection to a landscape and the transformative effect place can have on me. It is ongoing. This work is not currently for sale."
