Here is what people believe to be the ideal woman throughout history:
During the renessaince, women who were full-figure and over weight were considered to be the most attractive. Being thin was a symbol of poverty, because you couldn't afford to buy food.
The women of the Victorian Era were focused on having a small waist. They were wearing corsets that would make it difficult for them to breath or sit down. The ideal woman suppose to have a 12 inch waist.
in 1920s, women did not want to show their curves. They strive to have a flat look chest. The ultimate body type of 1920s was a boyish expression.
1930s-1950s women wanted to look like movie stars. Now they wanted to show off their curves llike Marilyn Monroe did. Now women really start to work on their bodies to improve their muscle tone to show their long legs and fit arms.
In 1960s, women wanted to be stick thin, because they wanted to look similar to the admired models of that time. Skinny was now the trend.
In the 1980s, aerobics became a big thing and women wore tight workout clothing that emphasized their bodies. They would squueze into tight spandex which was very trendy in the 80s, and considered to be very sexy.
in 1990s, models like Kate Moss were influencing women and young girls alike. Some of them acomplished the look by extreme drug use or by starving themselves.
After decades of women attempting to look thin, they finally began embracing curves again. In the past 10 years, we've seen curvier ladies on the magazine covers and TV screens.
