Sean Pepper
How did you start in Photography?
I was always into art (sketching), and after my leaving cert I was thinking what to do? I like art but wasn’t the very best at drawing. So last minute I jumped for the photography course in Dundalk, Co.Louth. I created my 1st ever portfolio with my Finance’s dads camera Canon 1100D (all set to Automatic Mode) and the help of my Finance’s sister who is a Graphic Designer and who knew photography.
So I went out and was trigger happy with the camera, shooting anything and everything in sight. So I put a small portfolio together and got into the course.
Then I got my 1st camera Canon 550D from my uncle and he as well as my tutor though me photography.
Your Work?
The more I shot, the more I learned. What looked good and what did not. I loved playing with lights and shadows. I learned how to use natural light and a reflector and how to use it to my advantage as the big lights can and are expensive.
Got my 1st professional light from my uncle Anthony Woods (and still using it today).
Who is your inspiration?
My main influences are:
Anthony Woods
Rankin
David LaChapelle
I am always looking at ways to improve my work. I am my own worst critic. Thinking what can I do different next time? I am always looking to bring something new to each shoot. Something that model has not seen before and trying to keep energy up when I am shooting. I like to work fast and get the shot that just captures everything from the subject.
I’m still working hard on my work to make sure it’s always at its best.
